Juicing is a great way to get pure nutrients into your cells. However, here are a few things you should keep in mind when you are juicing, including following balanced recipes and timing.

But we have made that easy for you! So check out the cleanse below and follow the guidelines.

How it works

General juice cleanse

On rising:

Water and lemon

8–9am – Choose one of the following juice recipes:

  • Green Smoothie
  • Watermelon Kidney Cleanse Juice
  • Spring Cleansing Juice

10:30–11:30am – Choose one of the following juice recipes:

  • Green Smoothie
  • Watermelon Kidney Cleanse Juice
  • Spring Cleansing Juice

A juice of your choice!

3–4pm – Choose one of the following juice recipes:

  • Repair Juice
  • Vitamin C Juice
  • Dinner Juice

5–6pm – Choose one of the following juice recipes:

  • Repair Juice
  • Vitamin C Juice
  • Dinner Juice

6–8pm – Choose one of the following recipes:

  • Smoothie
  • Almond or cashew nut “milk’.

Juicing tips

Before you start

  1. Choose the right juicer – The best juicer rotates at 40 RPM (that’s revs per minute) so it goes slow enough to juice the vegetables, fruits and nuts but without destroying the micro nutrients and live enzymes.  The faster the RPM the hotter the machine and the more oxidation that takes place.
  2. If you don’t have a juicer? – Make smoothies instead!
  3. Use organic vegetables – When you are juicing the whole fruit including the peels toxins and pesticides end up in the juice and can cause serious health issues.
  4. Buy local, seasonal and have your veggies delivered – There are great home delivery organic vegetable companies who will deliver to your home so support local and buy seasonal! It’s a win win for everyone, especially your body!
  5. Reuse your pulp! – Most machines separate the pulp from so you can recycle the pulp for recipes or compost.
  6. Follow the schedule!

Juice recipes

Start your juice cleanse day on rising with a glass of warm water with the juice of a lemon. This juice is a great start for a festive reset.

Mandy's Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 Small cucumber
2 Sticks of celery
300mls Organic apple juice
1 Big handful of baby spinach
1 Green apple

Method

Blend and enjoy!

 

Green smoothies are a nutritious green drink made from raw green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, celery, parsley and broccoli (you can also add sprouts or young shoots) and fruits such as oranges, kiwis, apples, mangos, bananas and strawberries (preferably all organic).

Generally there is a ratio of 40% greens to 60% fruit.

Smoothies are a perfect way to deliver nutrients and energy to your body and will give you amazing boosts in energy for hours after they are consumed.

Watermelon Kidney Cleanse Juice

Ingredients

1/2 Small watermelon

Method

Juice!

 

Note:  The amount of watermelon you need will depend on how many of these juices you include in your menu.  This recipe will make approximately 3 glasses.

Spring Cleansing Juice

Ingredients

3 cups watermelon
1 medium cucumber
1-2 cm’s Ginger – this depends on your taste!
10 Large mint leaves

Method

Just juice!

 

Makes one large serving!

Repair Juice

Ingredients

4 medium tomatoes
1 Packed cup spinach
1 large carrot
2 Sticks celery
Juice of 1/2 lemon
6 Basil leaves

Method

Juice and drink immediately!   Serves 2.

Vitamin C Juice

Ingredients

2 medium grapefruit, peeled and separated
2 large green apples, cored and quartered
1 large orange, peeled and separated
2 cups of pineapple chunks
½ beetroot, peeled and quartered
1 sprig of mint

Method

Prepare all the fruits and vegetables.

Juice each item in the order listed and drain the juice through a strainer if you prefer less pulp.

Chill or serve over ice cubes.

Dinner Juice

Ingredients

4 Small ripe tomatoes
4 small ripe tomatoes
1 small red capsicum
1 small yellow capsicum
1 large carrot
1 small zucchini
1 small handful of fresh herbs such as basil and parsley
1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 pinch sea salt

Method

Prepare all of the vegetables. Make sure to chop all the ingredients to fit through your juicer.
Juice in the order listed.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir and enjoy!

Nut Milks

Make your own nut milk

You can make vegetarian milk like almond and cashew milk with all good juicers.

Note:  If you do not have time to make your own nut milk you can always buy them from a good organic grocer.  Be sure to read the label to make sure that they are not ‘drinks’, are organic and do not contain sugar or other additives.

 

 

Bonus immunity boost recipe

A ginger shot every morning before breakfast, perfect for a festive reset!

Ingredients

1 litre of water
500g ginger root – washed, cut into smaller pieces.
1 cinnamon stick (5-6 cm long)
Honey or fresh lemon juice (as desired)

Method

Bring the water to boiling.
Add the ingredients.
Cover the pot with a lid.
Simmer, for 15-20 minutes.
Remove the ingredients and keep the liquid.
Keep it in a glass container in the fridge.

Drink a 30-40ml shot an empty stomach every morning to help boost your immune system.
