Our Studio Australia Barcelona Pilates Philosophy

Your program at Studio Australia Barcelona begins with a one on one 1 hour private session with owner and Pilates master Natalia Laing.

During this introductory session you will be introduced to the Studio Australia Barcelona method of Pilates.  Our method can best be described as contemporary therapeutic and your Pilates instructors are all senior Pilates professionals with their own substantial repertoire of exercises that use either mat or equipment.

Since Joseph Pilates developed his method in the early 20th century there have been generations of Pilates teachers and health professionals who have adapted and modified this intelligent form of exercise to suit their own training and rehabilitation techniques for their clients.

With more than 24 years of experience as a Pilates professional Natalia Laing has done the same.

Your introductory session

When you have your introductory session with Natalia she will do a postural assessment on your body and discuss with you your history and speak about any injuries or concerns you may have.  She will also ask what you would like most to achieve from practicing Pilates.

In the session she will stretch and work with your body to understand how your skeletal, myofascial and muscular systems are working.  She will also teach you her technique of breathing and you will learn about the fundamentals of how to use your pelvic floor muscles and abdominals.

Following your introductory session we will develop a tailored program to suit your needs including the times of your sessions and how many times a week you would like to come to your classes and any other complementary health treatments you might need.  In the studio we offer a choice of private or studio sessions and in every class you will be doing your own program.

It doesn’t matter your age or fitness level we can create a program to suit you and achieve your goals!

Private Pilates session with the focus on you

Every session is tailored to how you feel on the day.  Whether you need a good stretch out and manual release of your muscles by your Pilates therapist, want to work on specific areas of your body to repair, if you are pregnant, or you would prefer to do a hard workout and break a sweat we will adapt the session to suit you.

It’s a perfect treat for everyone.

Many of our clients choose to do private sessions because they prefer the full direction, attention and correction of the instructor while practicing their Pilates.

However it is not unusual for some of our clients to combine private and studio sessions as they believe they get the best results with both types of sessions.

If you have specific problems or need personal attention we recommend that you take private Pilates sessions as it gives us the time to concentrate solely on your body and adapt the exercises and stretches to suit your needs.
